Charter Chapter Club – Starting Information

Dear Medical Professionals,

 

We are excited to introduce the Medical English Association of Japan (MEAJ), an organization dedicated to fostering the use of English within the medical field. We believe that effective communication in English is crucial for medical professionals in today’s global healthcare landscape. As the national president, I am thrilled to invite you to establish a Charter Chapter Club at your institution.

 

Starting a Charter Chapter Club is a straightforward process that requires a minimum of three preliminary individuals to agree to be listed on the Charter Chapter Temporary Registration Form. While it is ideal for the person filling out the form to assume the temporary role of Chapter President, it is not necessary. Once the form is submitted, the main contact person will receive a confirmation email and another easy-to-fill-out form that requests basic information about your institution.

The three preliminary leadership positions in your chapter will not impose significant responsibilities beyond the following three basic roles:

 

1.Setting up one program per month: We encourage you to organize a simulated ZOOM Clinic as your monthly program. In this activity, an English-speaking individual will play the role of a patient and act out a specific illness. The participants on the ZOOM call, including doctors and nurse practitioners, will take on the role of diagnosing the problem. This interactive exercise will enhance your English language skills while simulating real-life medical scenarios.

 

2. Promoting the organization: We kindly request that you promote the Medical English Association of Japan to the best of your ability in order to attract more members. You can spread the word within your institution, share information on social media platforms, or organize informational sessions to highlight the benefits of joining our organization.

 

3. Communication and assistance: It is essential that you maintain open lines of communication with the national organization and offer assistance as deemed necessary and appropriate. We value your input and involvement in shaping the future of the Medical English Association of Japan.

 

Once the two forms are completed, your chapter will be ready to go! In the event that more than three individuals express interest in preliminary leadership roles, the national executive director or the organization will work closely with your local chapter to ensure all leadership positions are fairly filled.

 

We believe that the establishment of Charter Chapter Clubs across medical schools, hospitals, and clinics in Japan will greatly contribute to the advancement of medical English proficiency and cross-cultural understanding within the healthcare community. We look forward to your participation and collaboration in this exciting journey.
